ACMH Care Management & Housing
In November 2025, 101,978 people slept each night in New York City shelters, a 109% increase from four years ago.
ACMH housing, care management and community services reduce hospitalization, incarceration and homelessness by facilitating engagement with outpatient care and connection to social, peer and natural supports, education, and employment.
61% of supportive housing admissions are from street homelessness or shelters.
Of those admitted to housing from a psychiatric hospitalization, only 1% are readmitted to the hospital within 60 days; only 2% are readmitted to medical units.
On average, psychiatric hospitalization utilization is reduced to 1.3% of days in residence in our housing programs; medical hospitalization to 0.7%.
Over the last year, only 7% admitted from incarceration were arrested for a new charge, and 13% for a parole violation.
The cost per diem of ACMH supportive housing is half the cost of a day in a shelter, a third of the cost of a day in prison and 1/15 the cost of a day in a psychiatric hospital.
